Hey conscious human! Today I want to share with you a company I ran across called Humankind. By Humankind is a company who offers personal care products that are good for our bodies and the planet. That’s a win-win!
Some of the products you will see on their website include refillable deodorant, bar soaps, shampoo and conditioner and mouthwash tablets. The one thing I am not a huge fan of is that the refill containers are still plastic…. but it is the best thing I could find at this point. Most recently I was using Schmidt’s deodorant that came in a glass container with a plastic lid and a plastic spatula to put the product on, so I preferred to explore another option.
Previously I shared a post writing about the Lush deodorant bar that originally seemed like it worked, but overtime the deodorant got tough and was rough on the skin. Not a good thing for such a sensitive part of the body!
The image below is the refillable deodorant stick that by Humankind has called a kindfill. Like some eco-friendly swaps, sometimes you run into some bumps in the road trying something new. I was waiting a while for my deodorant container and re-fill to arrive and when it did there was something wrong. I would turn the bottom but the stick would not move up. Not going to lie, I was human and got annoyed mostly because I had ran out of deodorant and now had to wait for another order, but also because I was stoked to try it out! Also, not ideal that I was requesting another plastic container since the goal is to cut down plastic consumption.
However, By Humankind customer service was really on top of it when I wrote to them and were very understanding. The staff shared that the kindfills at times have issues or are defective, so sending me another one would likely fix the issue. Looks like there is room for more problem solving and testing for this product, but it is great that companies are trying new things to make a positive change!
