Quit the Jugs: Switching from Jug Laundry Detergent to Dropps
Hey all! I wanted to share a smidge about my switch from liquid big jug detergents to Dropps detergent. Per usual, it takes me a minute to venture out to try something new because I am often skeptical. Would switching from liquid detergent to these little pods work just as well on my clothes? Would the dropps make my clothes smell good? Is the clear pouch really eco-friendly? The short answer to these questions, are yes, yes and yes!
Some reasons why making the switch to plastic free detergent is a win for you and the planet! (Also, this product does not sponsor me in any way so know that this is just my honest opinion). And if you use another plastic free detergent, please feel free to comment below or send me a direct message on instagram @waveofconsciousness to let me know what has worked for you!
- Dropps is fully transparent about the ingredients in their detergent. Yes, other detergents also have the ingredients on the label, but these ingredients are ones that I could understand and they do a beautiful job of breaking down what is in them.
- Say bye bye to plastic jugs that will outlive us all! (By this I mean that plastic does not go away ever, it takes forever to become little fragments of plastic). Dropps delivers their detergent pods in eco-friendly packing that is compostable, recyclable and repulpable. It’s depressing to think that most of the plastic jugs from all the humans around the world still exist! Did you know that only 9% of what we recycle in the U.S. actually gets recycled?
- When purchasing Dropps you can know that you are supporting local jobs right here in the United States.
- Dropps travel to us from Chicago via ground transportation. For me that is far since I live in Los Angeles, BUT it is nice to know that Dropps is conscious of their carbon impacts and share on their website that they have a commitment to carbon offsets. Read here about carbon offsets.
- The other benefit to creating more plastic free habits is that it feels damn good! It can be tough to cut out plastics all together, and sometimes it feels impossible, but making a switch like this a habit makes me feel good inside about the long-term impact.
I hope you can get inspired to make a switch to plastic free detergent if you have not already! Every bit of plastic that we can try to avoid makes a difference. Every time I make a switch I have at least a couple of friends who are interested and make it too, so it’s not just you making an impact, others can be inspired by your plastic-free switches too!
